Hen drinking a lot, being lethargic, and more

Humm...  How long did you wait before letting her eat?  After emptying her, I mean.  (I know, I didn't realize it was yesterday, either!  Time flies so fast it's scary.)

Okay, well, here's another article.

Oh, and I just found this one, too.

Hope those help- and don't scare you.

We didn't wait that long after she was emptied definitely not 24 hours. After she was emptied she just had water for some time and we let her relax then (since it was my first time emptying a crop and I was nervous) we emptied it completely then after and that was finally when we offered her some bread in olive oil and yogurt.

I am almost certain (if this is possible) that there was just some issues going on but there wasn't time for it to form yeast and become sour crop. There isn't any hardness and she is almost completely back to normal, what a strange case but I'm glad.

I did read both articles and the second article I'm pretty sure it was with the different remedies from different owners at first made me feel like I had completely messed up. Although the second chicken owner had done the same thing I was doing besides the applesauce which I regret but at the same time she enjoyed it. I am much more at ease because it has been confirmed that if Beep Beep goes back to her unhealthy ways like 2 days ago, the person taking care of my hens will be able to empty her crop.

I checked up on Beep Beep about 45 minutes ago and she was happily roosting beside her "sisters". And when I checked her comb is was completely back to normal looking great, and she even back away when I put my hand near her (which she hadn't been doing for the past two days!).

I think we've done a good job SuperChickRuth, tomorrow will be the last detailed update then I will let you know what the vacation caretaker briefly says.

UPDATE:

We left home about an hour ago and here is the latest scoop. So Beep Beep was hanging out in their outside pen pecking around and all that when I got saw her. Her crop felt back to normal, I'm just assuming maybe a little swollen and hurt. I witnessed her poop once again and it was more white stuff and more liquid, not really any color but I also didn't get a great look. I assume since there was more coming out of her, she's getting better. I also gave her some yogurt which she seemed to enjoy but didn't have any water I offered her. I put her back in the outside pen after that and she had some more yogurt while her other sisters attacked. Beep Beep's comb was flopped and not as red as it was last time I checked though, how strange. Besides that she didn't want to go into the actual coop and when I picked her up she was sort of struggling to get out of my grip, like she usually would do. I have high hopes she will be fine and we have extra people checking up on our gals while we're away.

P.S. I did see her try some oyster shells for calcium, I read it's pretty good for them to have to help with sour crop.

Good, good, good!!! Thanks for the update! (And seeing her eat oyster shells- that is a really good sign. She's going to be fine while you're gone.)

I don't really have any thing else to say, but you have done an awesome job taking care of Beep Beep and deserve an awesome trip!

Hey SuperChickRuth,

Just got back from vacation (which was great) and came home to hens feeling 10 out of 10! Just thought I would let you know Beep Beep is back to normal and feeling fantastic. Her comb has even perked up a bit. Thanks for helping last week, it really made a difference!
