Hen eating dog food and trowing leaves on her back

I have only 2 Wyandotte hens. One is extremely loud and annoying the other is what I would say "different". She is making purring sounds like a cat, likes to be pet on her back, sneaks in the house to eat dog food and recently found her trowing leaves and pine needles on her back after laying. What is this all about? Or is my chicken just missing a screw or two?

i think throwing things on the back is a nesting thing and pretty typical. not sure about purring though lol!

I know they purr when they're happy, and when there's danger but I don't know what the difference is. I can't keep mine away from the dog food! I let them out in the evenings to free range and they go straight to the dog's food pan. If I don't pick it up they'll eat it all and he'll be left hungry!

Yeah from what I gathered is that throwing things on her back is typical when laying and nesting although not very common. Mine however does this while roaming the yard after egg, purty bird! I believe the purring is a happy noise as they are quite spoiled. The same hen has gotten very good at sneaking in the house for dog food. I am amazed that she sneaks very quiet inside and will run out once I spot her. I leave door cracked for dog who shares back yard with chickens.
