Just got this egg this morning...no shell? I will give her more oyster shell and hopefully my problem will be solved.
It's not necessarily that she needs more oyster shell/calcium.
Balanced diet is what's important as @junebuggena pointed out in a previous post.
Stress can also cause malfunction in laying, with the new birds added, stress could be a factor here too.
Get the diet balanced out, then be patient, could take a week or more to manifest to better eggs.

Wonderful, thank you too for your response. I'm feeling a lot better cause this I can do...who knew that the feed store telling me that this is all I need to feed the birds wouldn't work. Living and learning.

If you feed nothing else but layer feed..... it can be OK..... but you were adding other low protein foods to the diet.
Most chicken feed bags state that it is meant to be the only food given.

Many of use like the higher protein feeds so we can give other 'treats' without diluting the feed nutrients.

Now this makes sense to me, the feed store did say that this feed was enough for their diet. I thought I was enhancing their diet by adding things. Maybe I'll just continue feeding this way and cut out all other stuff until the bags are gone then I'll do the other that's even cheaper anyway.

I am happy to report that my Easter Egger now has hard shells and not eating her eggs.

I believe that by not giving them extra scraps etc. as what was suggested their food is healthier. I do have one of the babies that has plucked feathers on her back side but I believe its all because of the merge (I am putting a purple lotion on her so they don't peck her)

I think the hen house is finally happy!!!

Thanks so much for all of your advice.
