Hen hatching ducklings... eggs have a crack on them..

I don't know about the crack; I've never dealt with that. Just lucky, I guess. I did have a hen hatch and raise a duckling. It was wonderful to watch. She hatched 2 other chicks as well and the only "problem" was when the duckling would get in the small bowls of water we leave out. He would get in and dip and splash and she would throw a fit until he got back next to her. Now, 2 years later, he still prefers to hang out with the chickens instead of the other ducks, but every once in a while, he will jump into the pond and hang out for a while.
