hen having a hard time laying

I have a hen thats been in the nesting box and wont come out from this morning and its 6 PM now. I tried touching her and she yelled at me like she normally does if I touch her while she is laying. How do I help her?

Did you consider she might be going broody?

Oh yes it can. Some of them try to hatch air. Watch her if she stays on the nest and doesn't come off except to eat and drink. You have a broody.

So far from what I have seen she hasnt came off at all. I started feeding at the other end of the run to make her get up and go there, I also put the water there. She hasnt gotten up, is better not be hatching air! I can raise invisible chicks! lol

Greetings, and thanks for your reply and help with this question:

We have a Cochin. For two days she is sitting in the laying box all day. She came out to eat last night when my wife picked her up.

This morning, she's back in the laying box.

We removed all the eggs, yet she stays.

Does a chicken/hen ever have difficulty laying an egg (sort of an egg-constipation moment)?

If so, what may we do for her, or do we wait out the process of egg delivery or this possible brooding-mood?
