Hen having trouble walking.

I have a 28 month old EE hen that is having trouble with her right leg. She was fine when I turned the chickens out of the pen to free range. I went to check on my goats and came back and she could not walk right. I caught her and checked her over real good and all I could find wrong was signs of an over excited rooster. Her back is punctured on the right side. Could this be a nerve damage effecting her leg? If so are there chances of it healing?

I do have her in a cage in the house so she will not be picked on or spread disease if she has it. I think it is injury but still being safe. Her poop seems normal and she is eating.

Keep a watch on her and if it is a deep punture then flush with saline or epsom salt. Apply neosporine etc. to fight infection. Sounds like she is sore and just like us we tend to baby those sore areas. Good Wishes -

Thanks. After six days she can finally stand and walk without falling. Now I can move her to an outside cage to make sure she is fully healed before reintegrating her to the flock. I will be glad to get her cage out of my house.

I am also glad she is ok.
