I have 5 hens and a rooster, all just under 9 months old. 3 Golden Comets that are great eggers and 3 Plymouth Rocks of which one is a rooster. I get to tell all myfriends "I have a handsome Rooster" I wish I had that line when I was single. Anyway, one of the Plymouth Rock girls used to squack squack squack all the time but lately it has turned more into a honk, honk, honk like a goose. I don't see any sign of mucus or sneezing and she seems fine other then the honk-honk-honk. I am affraid she is horse or has sometihng going on with her respritory system, this hasn't changed at all inthe last couple of weeks. Do I have to be concerned? I keep them in a stand alone coop with pine shavings and hay on the floor, ther does always seem to be dust flying in the air. I use a heat lamp it the temperature will be going below +20 overnight or in the daytime. I give them a warm mash with other treats 2-3 times a day like peas or green beans, occasionally they get a head of cabbage and they get an apple every day. I also give them diced hard boiled eggs and scrambeled eggs as well as some lean red meat about once a month.
What do you think?

Mine sounds like that when they sneeze.. If there is noticeable dust, it may just be too much for her.. Some chickens are more sensitive than others.. Perhaps try putting her on nothing but pine shavings or a different kind of hay that is not so dusty.

It may be the dust... or maybe it's just her? We had a pullet that honked, she finally grew out of it, but she honked for months....

I'd try to reduce the amount of dust and just keep an eye on her to see if it gets better or worse. Probably wouldn't hurt to look for mold either.
