Hen humping loosing feathers

I have a rr rooster that is tearing up all my hen backs and shoulders. How can I prevent him from doing so? Is there a way to trim nails to prevent this? Or should I get a apron for the hens and there is always the option of killing him. What do you guys think I should do what have you guys done to solve the problem. Thanks

I'd seperate them from the rooster for awhile. You can get 'chicken saddles'

to protect the hen's back, also.Be sure he has enough hens, so he's got many
to choose from. 10-12 hens per rooster would be good

If you want you could do the saddle thing. I would separate him, make sure his spurs are not pointed, and maybe even clip his toe nails. Dog nail clippers work great on spurs and nails, but there are other methods.
