Not hard at all! It is a mother's instinct. If she is broody, she will hatch eggs!

Not hard at all for a BROODY hen to incubate eggs. She'll even incubate other hens' eggs. You just need a broody hen; hens which are not "broody" will not incubate eggs at all.
