Hen infected with mycoplasma synoviae

Sheesh... I just talked to the vet again and apparently after having some time to consult with the poultry specialist who did the actual testing, she thinks it's more likely that it's either avian influenza bronchitis or mycoplasma gallisepticum - the titers for those two diseases were higher than for mycoplasma synoviae (which was what she told me it was this morning). I guess the titers just show that there has been exposure or vaccination for the diseases, and the only way to know for sure which one is causing the problem is to re-test in 3-4 weeks after she's been on the antibiotics and see which disease titer has dropped in that time? Very confusing, and still really no good sense of whether or not she will recover. She was eating some more on her own tonight so that's good!

Yeh, that testing for antibody stuff does get confusing, but based on the symptoms it does sound much more consistent with MS than it would be with IB or MG. Interesting...

The sling idea is great I'm gonna keep that in mind if somehow one of my hen's have health issues and cant stand up. I really hope she gets better its the worst feeling when one of your animal's is not well. My silkies are on medication for coccidiosis and one got a secondary chest infection. Now I'm sick and on antibiotics ^^.

Please get well soon Rosa.
