hen is a roo

i bought 8 white rock pullets. it is almost time for them to start laying. one always comes up on me like a mean rooster. wants to jump and throw out both feet at me. she's not making rooster sounds but is sure getting cocky with me when i go out there to visit the girls. i don't see any spurs on her but the behavior is just like a rooster. the hens have yet to lay, any day now. if it is a rooster shouldn't it be crowing? hatched in early march. she looks like the others as far as combs and waddles.

Wow, sure sounds rooster-y. Do you have good photos of them you could post?

If she looks the same, she's just top hen and taking over some of the rooster duties. Of course, the other option is that you have all roo's but that's pretty darn unlikely

that's reassuring, as my boyfriend also told me that head hens will act like that, but i didn't believe him! when i picked her up and held her, she settled down and liked it, but when i put her down she got all bad with me again. silly thing.
