a wild feral cat got in our coop and tore our sweetest hen up. under her wing area she is missing skin and it's dried up to look like old fried chicken.. not even kidding but the area is like a softball size! it's hard and black. worried that once it starts warming up that she may get maggots. we have an apron on her and she is separated in a very secured place. what can we put on her to help heal? will she ever heal?

I would take her to a vet. Black sounds really bad.

Pictures may help. How certain are you that it was a cat? Spur injuries from a rooster or another type of predator could be possible. I would try to soak the large scabbed area in warm Epsom salts or chlorhexidene water. dry well and then apply plain thriple antibiotic ointment twice a day.

we don't have roosters in her own, and we have three cats that have always been trouble. maybe it wouldn't be the cat, who knows but.. we had to chase out the cat that morning. reasoning to why I say it was the cat. could be wrong. I'll try to upload pics in just a moment
