Hen is laying a gooey mass

I have a hen that is laying a gooey mass. It looks like silly putty ( for those who remember silly putty). It's been happening for awhile and I just saw which hen is laying it. There's no yolk or white. It's just a mass of goo that is the color of a brown egg. It seems to be the consistency of mashed potatoes that are too dry. That's the best description I can come up with. Wish I had thought to take a picture before I threw it out. If anyone has any idea why this is happening it would be appreciated.

Thanks for the reply. I wish I had taken a picture. I don't think she lays this every day. I'll have to get a picture next time I see it. She seems to be acting fine but it's definitely not normal.
