Nutri drench will do the trick if you don't have poll-vi-sol.

i'd test her poop at the vet. You can just drop off a sample. Could be cocci too? Also, what did you use for worming? if you used Wazine, that only kills roundworms, you need a different wormer.

if you are soaking the break in liquid, then she is getting some hydration from that.

I gave her Wormazole.I don't have the bottle but I think it kills several types of worms,I'll have to research that.
I wasn't thinking cocci because she doesn't have diarrhea .

Wormazole should have worked, it has fenbendazole in it. You do have to repeat the worming after 10 days.

She might have cocci without diarrhea - i have had that happen to me. If you get a poop sample over to any vet, they can tell you for sure within 24 hours, will run you 25-30 dollars. Or you could try and go ahead and pick up some corid and try to treat.

Since your hen isn't drinking but is eating, mix her crumbles with water and yogurt. Make a nice mash out of it. You can mix her vitamins right in with this mixture. Most chickens go crazy for it. The biggest plus about it...it provides all the moisture they need. There is no need for them to drink until they are feeling better. Could she be displaying signs of EYP? When was the last time she layed an egg? Search egg yolk peritonitis and see if the symptoms match. Speckledhen has many good threads about EYP that will give you alot of really good information.

I googled corid and what I found was for cows.Is that the same stuff I would use for a chicken?
I'm going to call our local vet and see if he will check a fecal sample for me.

I thought chickens with cocci died quickly?She has been sick since Sunday and she is still alert.I called both our local vets and didn't get an answer,so I will try later.

They do not have to die quickly. It depends on the strain of Coccidia that you would be dealing with. Yes, the Corid we are talking about is a cattle medication but, is also used in chickens.

doubt they can help but it's worth a shot.I hate to start meds if there not needed,I'm afraid they would do more harm than good.I'm sure

Is she still drinking? If she is still drinking, make sure she has a water source that she cannot drown in. Sometimes, when they are weak, they will fall go to sleep with their head in the water dish and drown.

One of the problems that I have had is getting local vets to look at a fecal without seeing the animal. Factor in the cost of fuel, office visit, time, it's not cheap.

FYI, I was told that a vet could look at the fecal sample under a scope and check for coccidiosis. My vets send floats to a lab, which costs more. Try asking to speak with a vet tech when you call, they might be more helpful.

I am so surprised. Both my vets here (which will not see chickens...) will do the fecal test for parasites. It's really hard if you don't even have access to that.

You may want to try and force feed her a bit - if they stop eating they decline quickly. Corid is better than Sulmet, covers more cocci strains.

I did find a vet from the list that would check a fecal sample it will cost $30 and they
would see her for 70 plus tests.She also told me she didn't think she had cocci.
If Cocci can be seen under a scope I wonder at what strength it could be seen at.
