hen isn't laying in the nest box anymore

My wyandotte hen hasn't been laying in her box for a couple days now, how do we get her to go back in there to lay? She used to always lay in the box, but now she lays in the run instead. We have plastic containers as nest boxes that she sometimes tips over, could that be why?

Your definitely need to secure the nest boxes.. then put the eggs laid elsewhere in the same one daily until she gets the right idea.

Yes, I had success with those, but prefer the eggs the actual hen laid. You may have to sacrifice a couple but they will be eatible for days.

Yes!

The instability of the nest is most likely the problem......they need a secure nest, one that tips over is not secure.

thanks guys! we got her a new nesting 'box' which is a heavy set ceramic pot and she laid in there today. everythign has resumed back to normal
