So I have seven female ducks. One (a white layer) started laying about 6weeks ago and then the rest (all welsh harlequin) have been laying for about two weeks. They are fed all flock because I have ganders roosters and a drake but there are three stations of oyster shell throughout the yard and in the coop.

I collected seven good eggs this morning. Then about an hour ago I heard very loud “distress quacks” so I went out and all was fine but I found a shell-less egg. Came inside and checked the camera to see who laid it. It was the white layer. Hopped on BYC for a quick search and decided it was nothing to worry about. Then I went back out to do some puttering and she (the white layer) way laying off by herself straining so I went over to her and saw that she had laid ANOTHER shell-less egg!

That can’t be normal… or even uncommon. What should I be looking for or worried about or do? Does she need to be separated? The ganders have been mating her but not very aggressively and I have never seen her with the drake.

I do not. Is that a tractor supply thing? Or are there specific brands or products that y’all recommend?
Yoiu could get liquid calcium gluconate for cattle from Tractor, or you could get some over the counter calcium citrate from your pharmacy.

The durvet gluconate appears to be IV… can it be given orally? There is also a goat calcium French with b complex that indicates oral… would that be ok
