I had several free range chickens. Yesterday they all disappeared. I found a few of their little bodies last night, something killed them but we do not know what. One of my girls has been sitting on a nest of about 8 eggs off and on for a few weeks. We assumed that because she has not been on it constantly there would be no chicks, so this afternoon I went to the barn to throw out the eggs so they would not rot. Well, guess what! 2 of the eggs are peeping and after candling the remainder, I see that they are all wiggling. Now I am lost, can I put them in an incubator? Will just putting them under a heat lamp work? I have never hatched chicks before and am totally unprepared. I would really love to save them, it will ease the lose of my little flock. Any advice will be greatly appreiciated.
