I have a five month old olive egger who started laying normal eggs about eight weeks ago, but then four weeks ago started laying rubber eggs. She got an impacted crop that I caught early and she seemed fine after but she never really payed normally since. Maybe twice a week I will get a normal egg from her, three times a week I get rubber eggs, and the rest of the time she doesn’t lay. But then today she laid an enormous torpedo egg. Maybe this is all just part of being an immature bird and her shell gland isn’t working right. I’m just a little concerned for her health. My other birds of the same age occasionally lay a rubber egg or a double yolk egg, but otherwise they all lay almost daily and do just fine. Should I be concerned or is this part of being a five month old chicken?

She started laying at 3 months old?
Best to count age and timeline all in weeks.

Looks and sounds like she's got a wonky shell gland.
It might smooth out, or not.
