I would suggest a calcium vitamin D supplement in the water for your flock. Start there and see if that improves her shell quality. I had an issue with soft and brittle shelled eggs and added a D & calcium supplement to their water a few times a week, it’s been a couple weeks since I had any soft eggs so I am hoping that was their issue.Hello everyone (hugs) I have been following for some time, but never posted. I have been raising chickens for 4 years now. Need some help or suggestions please - have an olive egger born last May 20th, she is a beautiful, calm loving lady & started laying about 6 mos old. Pretty eggs with nice hard shells. Last week she started passing eggs in her sleep on top of poo pile! Perfectly formed, colored but feel like water balloons when you pick them up. I know this can happen once in a while, but now it's been 4 of them. Any help would be greatly appreciated - can't find too much on this on Internet. She did lay 1 good egg with hard shell after 1st 2 soft ones, then she laid 2 more soft ones. She is healthy, eats & drinks well, acts normal, good color on her comb/wattles. Thank you : )
Of course it could be she is also gearing up to moult.
