My Barred Rock just began laying again after a hiatus of a few weeks. (She didn't go through an entire molt, but did lose a fair number of feathers while the other girls molted for real.) I have found two eggs on the poop board under the roost in the last week or so, and another laid outside in the run. She has managed to deposit two eggs in the nest box.

Should I be worried?

I wouldn't be worried if i were you.

I have nine hens (a year and half) some of them molt alot, others not very much at all.

She is a new layer so may not have got the hang of where to lay them. OR she might be like some of my girls who will just lay where ever they feel like. It's all completely normal. It is a bit of a problem although i have got used to searching the entire garden for eggs.

Alot of hens like to announce when they are laying/laid. Some of mine could be mistaken for a roo, the noises they make.

New layers need to get the hang of it, no pun intended.

Most of my chickens all seem to want to lay in the same place. Sometimes they seem to fight for one spot even though they have eight nest boxes.

If you need to got back to using "next eggs" or golf balls, this may help your newbies get the hint.
