Hen leaving poult

My red hen that’s usually the best mama hen hatched one egg out of 8. Poults fine but for some reason she keeps just walking off from it. When I go out she runs back to it to keep me from it. She’s constantly talking to it like she always does but she’s just walking off and I’m not sure if she does this when I’m not here tomorrow if another hen might attack it.

I had her penned up a couple days. Went out yesterday evening let all the birds out came in got my egg bowl. It was dead under the coop not sure if it was already dead or one of em killed it after I let em out. It was still limp so might’ve gotten attacked by another hen. Hate to lose a poult but the whole situation didn’t seem right this time for some reason.
