still bejeweled, y'all
My hen Feejee (about 3 or four years old) jumped very awkwardly from the roost this morning as I was letting them out into the yard. The roosts are about 7 or 8 feet off the ground, and usually the birds just jump straight down, and there's never been any issues before now. She flew out the door and rolled sideways very awkwardly and immediately popped up, perfectly fine. However, a limp became very apparent as soon as she started walking. No cuts or swelling, nothing in the foot like bumble/infection/foreign bodies. I was concerned and picked her up, felt the whole leg and foot, went all the way up to the hip. There's no swelling or anything broken that I can feel, and it's not affecting her ability to move (she hops on 1 leg now, but can easily access food and water). She's not making any noises and I also moved her leg, stretching and collapsing it. She didn't make any sounds or flinch at all. I'm probably just going to leave her be and let her heal, maybe crate her at night so she can't jump off the roost.
