We have a 5 year old New Hampshire Red who has been sticking close to the nest lately. She's never been prone to broodiness, so this was unusual for her. When we finally got her out of the coop a couple days ago we noticed she was limping, and we spotted this weird thing growing out of the back of her leg. Is those one of those freak female "rooster" spurs I hear about sometimes, or is this some weird form of bumblefoot? She's still limping very badly, although still eating and drinking (if it's offered to her) so I think she's feeling ok internally. But something in her leg is bugging and she won't let me get too near it. Any thoughts? Anyone seen this before?

Does that normally cause so much limping, or should I be looking for another cause?
