Hen looks like a rooster

She really is a hen, but my friends mom insists shes a roo. She never crows and lays eggs lady. We only have 4 it's pretty easy to keep track.

From what I can see, your hen looks like a hen. No male hackle, saddle and sickle feathers. Also, she appears to be a black sex link, with female colouration (a male would be barred). Hens can develop huge combs and wattles, particularly certain breeds and dominant hens.

Folks not familiar with production birds can get thrown by the big comb they get. But the basic fact is that if it lays eggs, it's female. I agree that bird has no male characteristics. If it's a big deal to your friend's mom, just smile and nod and move on.

She is a jersey giant crossed with something else. I don't know what else though.

Assuming she's a Black Sex Link as she appears to be, and you know that one of the parents is a Jersey Giant, then the father has to be the Jersey Giant and the mother has to be a barred hen (probably a Barred Rock).
