I need advice. This girl seemed fine yesterday. She is 9 mos old. No swelling feet. But is clean. Poop is good. Layed yesterday. She has a beginning bumble on her foot but it’s not swollen just a tiny flat scab. Any ideas are welcome.

She ate a tiny bit of scrambled eggs today. She is drinking water but not a lot. No mites that I can find. And she is the only one in the flock acting this way. I started Corrid today.

We got meat birds three weeks ago. Those are more than 30 ft away and all are doing fine. We added some pullets about a month ago after a 30 day quarantine. Those are all looking healthy as well. No other hens seem ill at all. But I have noticed this hen seemed a bit off lately. I took a fecal to my vet out of the coop to check for worms. None were found.

If you can go into your coop at night and take a bird off the coop, you can inspect for mites. The common roost mites will only come on them at night, hiding in the cracks and under roosts in daylight. The northern fowl mites stay on them day and nite.

I would check inside her vent for a stuck egg by inserting a clean finger 1-2 inches. Have her egg shells looked normal? How much Corid are you giving? I would also consider worming with Valbazen or SafeGuard Liquid Goat Wormer. Try offering some watery feed as well as the dry. Tuna is also good in small amounts.

Thanks! She is still laying so no stuck eggs for sure. She gave an egg every single day so far. Great smooth beautiful green eggs. But I will head out to the coop tonight to check for those mites. Her poop was green and watery this morning. I will try to get a sample to the vet today. I gave two tsp per gallon of liquid. Treating the whole bunch as a precaution.
