I had a hen that became ill probably a month ago. It was odd, she was smelly, had flaking skin and was constantly hiding and acting stressed. She even stopped eating. I treated for mites, bathed, and wormed her, treated her weepy skin with blue kote. She got better and is acting normal.
Now I have a white Maran Who for over a week has been puffing up, tail down, she’s a bit smelly and dirty and even though her crops full ( but not hard) she’s become very skinny. She’s not pail and she is molting a bit, but she’s so lethargic something else is also going on too. Today I brought her inside separate from the flock. I’m treating with some corid in her water but I put just a few drops as in as I’m not sure of the dosage for such a small Waterer.

What is smelly about her? What part of her smells? A sickness on top of molting can be more serious than if it happened when they were otherwise healthy. Let's get some help in here. I'll tag a few of my favorites

Beat me to the tags! But yes what part of her is smelly? Because if it’s her mouth that could be a sign of sour crop.

Thanks for your help! I think she’s just generally dirty and smelly. (Smells of Poo) I’ll check her droppings in the morning. She doesn’t have a wet vent or any discharge coming from her nostrils.
