Hen marking?

Okay - so I have two chickens that are both welsummers. They look pretty much identical to me. However, it would be nice to be able to tell them apart. How do you do that?

Is it okay to put some masking tape on one of their legs?

Tape would come off. If you needed to mark a bunch of chickens, leg bands would be the best. But for just a couple of them I would use zip ties. Make sure it is snug enough to not pass over the foot, but loose enough to allow for circulation. Use colored ones and it looks like they're wearing bracelets.

Use plastic zip ties. They are cheap, come in a variety of colors are easy to see and the birds get used to them pretty quick.
