hen may be going broody!?

Hi! i have a problem! i think my hen is going broody! i have noticed that she has been in the nesting box all the time. I see her and then when i come back she's in the nesting box. i don't care if she goes broody but the problem is i have a rooster and if there fertile i'll have chicks, and i don't want any more! i got one egg out of there but i think there is more. She tried to peck me when i stuck my hand under there! What do i do?

If you don't want chicks, then break her. Put her in a wire bottomed cage for a couple days (with food and water, of course). Or you may be able to deter her just by locking her out of the coop if she hasn't really committed yet.

Ok! She was still in the nesting box when i checked on her tonight.... i don't know how long she has been in there... though i kinda want more chicks cause i got 15 chicks this spring but only 11 survived. so it would be nice to have a couple more chicks! i think there's only 3 or 4 eggs under there, i don't know if they're fertile or not. the rooster is 6 months old.

Well if you do want chicks, then mark the eggs that are under her now, and take out all the new ones every day. Then in 21 days you'll have chicks.
