My hen Peppercorn needs to be rehomed, as she is the only survivor of a tragedy. I don't have it in me to get more birds, as much as I love chickens, so I want to get her to a good home. My mom's friends might take her, but I'm also worried they might just toss her into their flock without caring about a gentle introduction.

She's a good, curious little girl that is a year and a half. She still lays eggs every day/every other day.

This is relatively time sensitive, since I don't want her alone for long.

I'm so very sorry! I don't take any chickens right now. I hope soon I can.

Bumping! I can't imagine you'll have issues finding a home for her. She looks very healthy and is a pretty young laying hen.
Aw thank you I was literally just about to come in and do a bump. But yeah I'm really sad even thinking about letting her go. Almost to the point of maybe getting at least 2 more hens but I also don't want to risk letting something happen again. I just love chickens so much and I think peppercorn deserves a safe home

Have you considered keeping them in a coop/run setup? I'm in the piney woods North of Houston and have a ridiculous amount of predators that want to eat my chickens. I built a large predator-proof run attached to the coop (including a hardware cloth skirt to prevent diggers). They're happy and healthy. I even have a "chicken tractor" so they can graze in the grass without risk of predators.

If you love your girl and are considering keeping her and getting a couple more so she's not alone, this might be your solution!

I don't do FB but I believe there is a San Antonio Backyard Chickens FB group. You might try contacting them about Peppercorn's rehoming if you're a Facebook user.
