Here I am again reading over this site for information! Thank goodness for this forum!
I need help! PLEASE!
I have a point of lay laced Wyandotte hen that is not doing to well the past few days.
I have no Idea what’s going on with her... I noticed yesterday she was off on her own, very quiet. She was happy to stay in the shade by the food & water..she quietly stayed there all day. Tail down, very quiet. When everybody came in to roost at night she came in & I scooped her up to put in sick bay. She felt quite light I looked her over & can see not a thing wrong with her. Her crop feels fine, vent fine, nothing wrong with her mouth eyes or nasal passages, poop still looks ok.
But something is wrong!! She is still moving around, but tail down... no energy.
I gave her some applesauce & egg this am.. hardly touched it. But is eating crumble.
I have no idea what this could be?
Feed schedule:
They free range all day, but layer pellets are made available to them all day, so is 18% grower for younger hens (which she prefers) fresh fruit & veggies all day, fresh water from all different locations. I also provide crushed eggshell & oyster shell.
DE used in bathing site & feeding areas to help with mites & worms. Because I feed I have it openly available & they do eat it I have never de-wormed them (flock of 17) I was told I didn’t have to. (correct me if wrong..)
**Please note I’m in Canada so I don’t have all the drugs you guys do. Buckerfeilds is nearest feed store.
Where do I start? What do I do next?
PLESES HELP! I don’t want her to die! Or get sicker!
***we have no "chicken" vet locally!!
