She is 1 1/2 yrs old. Lays regularly when not broody or raising babies. Brought home/ incubated some bitties mid July to the beginning of August. I found out early last week that the chicks had Cocci. The chicks are seperate from the rest of the flock, but decided to treat everybody for fear of contact contamination through mine or my kids hands, etc. It took a couple of days to actually get my hands on the medicine, I did lose 5 chicks, but the medicine finally started working. I started the Sulmet last week on Thursday 8/9/12. Today is the last day for it. I will not eat any eggs until 8/30/12. That would be if I was getting any. Jackie is the one hen I have that lays, and I have not seen any eggs from her. The last time I kicked her off the nest was over a week (more like a week and a half) ago. I have been thinking that she is hiding the eggs, but I cannot find them anywhere in the yard, checked under all the sheds and unused cars. Also, she is a game size so will only sit on about 6 eggs. It has been longer than that. She is not hiding or sitting anywhere. She is always out and about when I go outside. I have checked numerous times, and she is not egg bound.

Could the meds or stress of being sick stop them from laying or keep them from starting. The rest of them are 25 weeks.

Thanks for any help.

The medication would probably not do that. Was she infected? If so, the stress would be a possible cause. She is most likely hiding her eggs. They can be really hard to find sometimes!

thanx for the reply. she is not infected. I dont think she is hiding them. she was laying them in the nest box last i knew. if she is hiding them, i wonder how many there are, and how many she plans on sitting. she is game size, so how many can fit under her? last time that she hid them, she sat when there were 6 eggs.
