Hey y’all, one of my hens that had been laying in the nesting box hasn’t been the past couple days. I got two chicks about three weeks ago and this week we decided to put them in their temporary home of a “see no touch” in the coop. Ever since then, the one hen that has been interested in the chicks is now laying eggs throughout the coop. We have two nesting boxes and only three hens right now so there is room for her to lay in the boxes, which she has previously done. Now i find them by the pop door and by the main coop door. Does anyone know why this is happening? If i go out in the morning and look and there’s only two then i’ll collect those so the nesting boxes aren’t occupied or full. I’m not sure why the sudden change...

Guess the presence of the chicks is confusing her, and her way of showing that confusion is to try and find a new spot to lay? Are the chicks housed close to the nest boxes?
Yes they are kind of close to the nesting box, but both nesting boxes are easily assessable and aren’t blocked.

 Since chickens don't like change (and suddenly! babies! are definitely something new) it could've been enough to throw her off. So even if she can access the boxes, she may not want to.
