Hen not standing

hi, i'm with colliebirds. i'm her engineer. think we got a rough draft of our first chicken sling worked out tonight. please help me with the next iteration. what's the goal by getting our girl in the sling? thank you, zdb
I believe it's to get the legs straight so they maintain good blood flow, and for the bird or you to move them to start to get movement back. So while the bird is in the sling it can be helpful to move the legs and see if the bird has the strength to push against your hand.

And also to help her stay upright while relieving the weight bearing, I thought?
Gave her the first try in the sling. She was in it for approx 1/2 hour and was alert. She moved her legs some on her own. Helped her work them a bit as well. She seems to be getting stronger each day - her appetite is also getting better.

Thank you for all of your ideas. It certainly eases our minds and have made me and zdb new fans of this site.

We are now also looking more into the possibility of bumblefoot. Not really that familiar with her pads prior to this situation. However, in comparing them to our other girls, they seem a little swollen. However, there is no evidence of any scabs, cuts or redness. She also does not seem to be in pain when we touch her feet. Could the swelling be due to the fact that she has not been able to stand and move around much in the last few days?
