Hen or cockerel? Help!

I am the only one in my family who thinks that this fella is a boy.
What do y’all think?
Almost 17 weeks, (but not laying).
I’m mainly concerned about the short tail, shiny feathers, and wattles.
Opinions anyone???

I would guess boy, as the legs look super thick, and for the other reasons you mentioned. How long have the comb and wattles been large and red?

It could be a hen approaching point of lay… but I think this one is a boy. I don’t have any chickens like this though, only little bantams so I am not as good at recognizing in the regular sized chickens!
