Hi all
New to chicken keeping, just wanting some opinions on what sex you think my chicks are.
They are 4 week old barnevelders

That's what I was thinking. It is feathering slower than the other two, stands taller and the wings are shorter.

Females are the only one who carry the lacing gene mine are about the same age and I have one of each from what I think yet and the one has gold on every feather speckling and the one who while out in the yard reared up acted like a too has less gold and its in splotches rather than one every feather. Hope this helps!

Here are some better pics of the Barnevelders.
First two pics are of the one I believe is a cockerel. The other pics are of the other two which I think are hens.

Hello, y’all ! I’m going to ride this thread! I have 2 young barnevelder chickens that I’m hoping are pullets. I don’t yet see much difference in coloration or pattern, though a little in form and the shapeliness of the tail feathers. They’re both about 12 weeks old. Pictures 1-2 are the same bird, the one my daughter and I wonder about being a roo. Picture 4 is the other.

I noticed the reflections off the feathers on picture 2 makes it appear there is some white- there isn’t. Also, unless the light is just right the coppery quality of the brown doesn’t show.
