My little brood has recently turned 3 months old and I was wondering if my buff brahma bantam was a male or not. Aha's bigger than his counterpart and been making weird noises at six am sooo maybe.

*sigh* I had my suspicions especially after he made this horrifying noise at 6am yesterday and today.

I didn't think they started crowing at such a young age. My hens won't even make their first eggs for a few more months.

I think both of the buff brahmas are cockerels. They both have the dark wing bars.

Here's a photo of the other one. She's much quieter and smaller than her counterpart. Also her neck is more black than his. (she's off to the back right)

Again, the darker wing bars on both brahmas say cockerel. Here's a pic of my buff when she was a pullet and there's no dark orange on her at all.

I must say, both Brahmas appear to be cockerels. Those dark wings bars, like Frazz specified, are telltale.
