Awww thx ! They are growing into beautiful girls .. Proud mama lol. I was going to intro them free ranging first .. But I wasn't plan on quarantine ..here is our coop

Even your coop is pretty! Mine is a repurposed dog kennel >.<
The quarantine is nice, but i understand not always possible (i cant quarantine). Just buy from a reputable breeder or hatchery that can verify the health of their birds-not a feed store (too many possibly contaminated hands reaching in), not a backyard breeder, and not a swap. Also-go with your gut.

I paid $13 for a 6 week old aussie from a guy i hadva bad feeling about. Ebony ended up dying of starvation three days later. He had her in a cage that the holes were too large with much older birds so she was very malnourished. It was devastating. Im glad i gave her love and the chance to dustbathe at least once, but now that my flock is larger, i wouldnt risk them by getting a so-so bird.

I think the guy I'm getting from is a large operation breeder and he guarantees all hens . I think he seems knowledgable but ill go and inspect and if anything is funky I won't buy them .. Thx for everyone's input. I think I'm most concerned about the pecking order..I'm going to intro 3 month olds to my 2 and 21/2 olds .. Getting a light brahma , buff rock, white cochin and golden laced Wyandotte ..I think I have chicken fever lol

I started with five.

A predator killed three (my heart still aches over that).

So i ordered 30. Ended up with 28 out of thos lost one of the roosters i ordered.

So i ordered 11 more.

Now i have 41....and already looking at expanding. (And getting goats.)

They lead to more. My husband expanded tge house hunting budget after we decided chickens are good....but goats make yummy cheese. Oh! And cows make even yummier ice cream-so we need a few of them too. And if we get those, im going to need a few more horses so my paint/arabian isnt lonely. And a pond with catfish! And if we have a pond, why not get ducks too?! Then my outdoor cats will have a barn to hang out in. And our dogs are great...but two are getting older and one has a bum knee, so we should get a fw hunting dogs.......
