Hen or Roo?! oh YES IT'S A BOY!

It's a boy!
So far he's afraid of me and very attentive to the girls. Hope he doesn't turn nasty.
Is he the only rooster you have? The recommended ratio of hens to roosters is 10 hens for every 1 rooster as too many roosters can be very hard physically on your hens; over-breeding them, biting and plucking feathers from their necks and backs, battering them, and even causing serious injuries to your hens. Even if he is the only rooster you have, if he turns aggressive, I would remove him from the flock. I currently have 25 hens and no roosters, and I get loads of eggs without the aggression, fighting, unproductive feeding, crowing in the middle of the night, and over-breeding and battering of the hens that goes along with having roosters (especially too many). And my hens are not stressed, and really seem to enjoy not having a rooster around. When you really think about it, the only reason you need a rooster is to fertilize eggs for hatching.
