Hello all!

I really appreciated the feedback on my last question. Here's another, I have a buff orpington that I can't decide the gender of. I'm thinking it might be a roo but I can't tell for sure. His sister has a much smaller comb which makes me think this but his feet are smaller and his tail feathers don't seem too pronounced yet. We were told he is about 4 months old but I'm thinking more like 4 weeks. they are still pretty small.

What do you people think??

Yup looks like 4 week old roo. Can we have a pic of the other one beside it? It helps for comparison.

I think they're too feathered for only 4 weeks old, mine were in the brooder and tiny still at 4 weeks, orps too!

I think they look closer to 4 months bc of those bottom feathers, etc.

I had some girls grow their crest faster then others so they looked bigger,

I'm not an expert and it's hard to tell for sure through just pics but my orps got fully feathered like that closer to 4 months old

My vote is a hen for both :thumbsup

Oops. I don't think 4 months still, more like 8 weeks.

But I still think the one is a roo, due to faster development.

Not really a problem though, unless you're not allowed to have roosters! :-D

My Western Rustic hens are 10 weeks old and still have nearly nonexistent combs. The roosters have very red combs and wattles.

Yeah, it's a tough one through pics, but if we're right and they're 3 to 4 months then a roo would be very obvious at 3 months roo started mating and crowing
