Hen or Roo?

Hi all!
So this is my first time raising chicks and so far they've all been healthy....though not what we thought they were (Thanks Tractor Supply) 5 of the chicks we ordered that were supposed to be Orpingtons...well they're me

at birds!
That being said, I believe one of my black sex links may actually be a roo. They're roughly 6 weeks and I've noticed this one's comb is larger and red, it's also developing wattle's that none of the others have. Any help??

Are you sure it's a BSL? If it is, then that is a pullet. Cockerels of that breed are barred. But if another breed, definitely cockerel. Are you sure it is only six weeks old?

I am not sure of the breed, as I said what we ordered from Tractor Supply was not at all what we got. My "Orpingtons" turned out to be Cornish crosses (I've raised meat birds before and it wasn't at all what I wanted). And yes they are 6, almost 7 weeks. The age I am certain of, but not the breed

That is a rather big comb for 6 weeks, my guess is its a cockerel.

If it is 6 weeks, then I agree, it has to be a cockerel. And it can't be a black sex link. Perhaps it's another meat bird, although those usually don't come in dark colors. I can't think of a pure breed it might be.

Hold on a minute. Does that chick have white barring or gold feathers mixed throughout? Did the chick have a white dot on its head when you got them? BSL cockerel by definition will show immediately. 6 weeks old and a big comb like that says man chicken.

Yes it does have some white barring on it's neck and chest. The rest is solid black.

I did just pick up 6 more today from a local Agway, some Silvery Wyandotte's to go with my Golden's
