Hen or Roo

Ok, yes there are actually 7 chickens in there, but we figured 5 guys 2 dolls...hmmmm. The pen extension..it’s made..just sitting, waiting, waiting until the right time to integrate them..I had the big chickens out yesterday and they nipped the little chickens..I know that is going to happen for awhile..but I just want them to be old enough and for it not to change those great personalities
Integrate them when they’re about 5-6 months old and everything will be fine. They will fight a bit but that is normal.

Here's an Orpington chick that's obviously male. Had a big red comb since 2-1/2 weeks of age. He's from a project I'm working on, he's not going to be used though.

He's 8 weeks old in this picture.
Orpingtons are relatively easy to sex compared to most breeds. I feather sexed him as male at day 1, so I knew ahead of time. Here's the female, same age for comparison.

This is her coloring, she's going to be breedible to continue my project.

Orpingtons are a purebred, which many of different types of purebred chickens can't be feather sexed, only hybrids.
But, I do feather sex purebreds whenever I get some, & it is possible if you know what to look for.

Here's a nice diagram from the internet.
