They actually look a bit younger than 3 months. The two birds pictured are cockerels. They are too young for male specific feathering to show. Also, tails are not a means to sex a chicken.

Sorry I meant saddle feathers around the tail! But even if they were younger I’m sure they could show something! Our cockerel a little over a month is already growing them in! They could be fast developing girls? We have a lot of those! But I’m not sure!

I've sexed hundreds and hundreds of birds. I've seen some 9 week olds sprout saddles. I've never seen a 4-5 week old have them. They barely have their first set of feathers at that age.

Sorry I was not meaning to offend! I don’t doubt that you know what you’re talking about it’s just that for some reason I always end up with fast developing roosters! One of my roosters started crowing at less than a month old! He already had all of his rooster qualities including hackle pointy feathers and that’s how we knew that he was a rooster before he started crowing! We also have a polish rooster who started crowing at about two months and he looked like a rooster before then with all of his rooster stuff as well! I don’t doubt that you know more than I do and I did not mean to offend you! I was just sharing my experiences with roosters and how mine seem to be faster developers for some reason!

That sure is convenient if you can't have cockerels! Some people have to wait months and months.

Thanks for the feedback everyone! Sounds like, my fear is accurate and we have two cockerels. I’m super sad, the barred rock is such a love, but unfortunately I cannot have roosters right now
