Hen or Roo?

I find young guys start crowing with confidence. As soon as they quit getting their tailfeathers plucked by the mean girls, they start acting more cockerel like. I had a blue Americauna that was 7-8 months old before he started crowing.

I will post pics if I still have him. We can not have Roos where we are. I was trying to add blue eggs to our basket but seams that may not happen yet. Lol.

Pretty pale in the face still, but I see masculine feathering coming in, so I agree that he looks like a cockerel.

That’s what’s got me. Tail looks roo but pale comb. I’ve got a barred Cochin same age Ans has a bright red comb and seriously hoping it’s a hen. Lol

How old is he? Roosters have to crow at some point. He must just not be at maturity yet.

There are some that crow quieter, but never not crowing at all.

The very unique feathering patterns does complicate this, but the way he stands makes me firmly think a cockerel.

Also, at 5 months, just checking for eggs might be enough.
