Debating getting this Ermine Ameraucana. Hen or roo? I don't want to shell out almost 100$ on a bird that ends up being a roo that I can't keep where I live .

Not sure. She looks like she might be carrying one copy of the mottling gene. @NatJ might know what her pattern is called. (Sorry for tagging you for the second time in a day, Nat!)
Sorry, I don't know what to call the red and white bird. I am also not sure what is going on genetically there.

If she has any mottling, she probably would have two copies, to be showing that much white. One copy of the mottling gene "should" not show any effect because mottlng is recessive. In practice, it sometimes does cause little dots when a bird has just one copy of the gene, but not large amounts of white.

But she could just as easily have the genes to have a lot of black and a bit of gold leakage, plus one copy of the Dominant White gene turning most of the black to white (missing a few bits here and there), and that would leave the gold leakage pretty much untouched. I think this is more likely than just having mottling to cause the white.

Of course she could have both of those going on at once.
