Hen or Rooster?

  1. Definitely a cockerel, and I'm thinking Production Red (hatchery quality Rhode Island Red).

    Ok thanks I thought it had to be a rooster just found it odd he doesn't crow.

    Yep, he's a rooster.

    If you have older roosters, he may be staying quiet so he doesn't get his butt kicked. Crowing can be seen as a challenge by an older bird. Some younger males in a flock with older males keep quiet a lot longer than they would on their own.

    They are all the same age but he is the smallest in the group so I can see that. :)

    Our other Roosters are a Brahma and a Barred Rock.
