Bright red comb/wattles/ears. That color doesn't show up on a pullet until they are ready to lay eggs and 10 weeks is much too early for laying eggs.Could you explain why?
It looks like a female at this point, but the comb and wattles are big and red. At 9 to 10 weeks, that much comb and wattle development indicates a cockerel to me. Definitely get other opinions, though.Could you explain why?
Breeders often have chickens for sale at various ages since culling is an ongoing process. You can probably find friends for your pullet that are closer to her age/size that way. There is a social section on here where you can find other chicken people local to you. Ask there.so if she turns out to be a rooster, what should I do with my one hen? They can't be alone but I think it's to late to get a week old chick.
You could scan Craigslist for another pullet, go to a farm or feed store (they still have chicks.) Or keep both, if you can.so if she turns out to be a rooster, what should I do with my one hen? They can't be alone but I think it's to late to get a week old chick.
