A little background on this guy/girl. So we hatched this chicken that was laid by one of our chickens. He’s clearly by our blue Orpington (other roos are a bannie, Brahma, polish) and we think out of a hen with the puffy face (not sure of breed we just call her puffy face). It has crowed once in its life, I was witness to it, but doesn’t make any noise ever now. It struts and carries itself like a roo but lays on eggs (that are not it’s own) and cuddles up to our Brahma roo every night. Can chickens display characteristics of both genders? We still don’t know if it’s a boy or girl and it’s probably 7 months old now...

Even though it lays on eggs and never makes a peep and cuddles with one of the roosters???
There's no doubt in my mind you have a cockerel. :) More than likely he's low on the pecking order (since you mentioned there are other roosters in the picture), which is a good reason for his decidedly non-dominant behavior.

Handsome fella! :love Will you keep him?

We most definitely will!! The blue Orpington is the OG rooster along with Kevin the bannie. We raised the Brahma (Stanley) and the polish (Brad) (weren’t supposed to be roosters but they’re sweet and funny so we kept them so long as Blue was okay with it) and now this guy! He’s sweet as can be. Loves to be held and almost purrs while you’re petting him so he most definitely will stick around ☺️❤️
