Hen or Rooster?

Hello. We had bought 6 chickens 9 weeks ago. The person we bought them from said we had 1 rooster and 5 hens. Im afraid we may have more than 1 rooster. One is already starting to try to crow. Im not sure of their exact age. We bought them as chicks. Thank you for your help.

I agree, it looks like you have 5 Roos and 1 hen.

You can either try to re-home them or eat them.
If you really want to keep all of them, you would need to make some adjustments.
You could figure out a way to have 4 Roos in one enclosure and 1 roo with a hen in another enclosure. But then you would have to have a whole separate coop

Im trying to find more hens in my area. Maybe if i have a whole bunch of hens, the roosters wont fight each other? I read somewhere that that is possible.

Yes that might also work but you would need at least 8 hens per rooster. That’s a lot of hens!
