Kind of funny. I thought he was a hen until a few weeks ago. We have another rooster, same bread (not sure what that is either...). The other one grew up quicker, very obvious very quick so we assumed this one was a hen. Up until a week ago only the one was crowing. Now this one starting making a noise that almost sounds like he echos the end of the crow, but it sounded so funny I wasn't 100% convinced. I started paying more attention and decided he may be a rooster too. Thought i'd check. A bit disappointed, but I guess it would be too lucky to only have one rooster out of all the little chicks :)

Thanks!

The lower guys on the totem pole don't always crow as early. Plus, like human boys, the just develop at different rates. That's all boy. And like any proper boy, he's dirty! lol

Okay -- so new question. :)

I now have 5 girls and 2 boys. I would hate to get rid of a boy, but I know thats too much roo for that many hens, right? Can I wait until there is an issue? They are about 23 weeks old and so far I haven't had any problems.... what do I do?!

Very sharp looking Roo if they are not fighting i would wait and see... I have been told that sometimes if they are raised together it works out ok.
