Hen or Rooster?

She stated it was approximately 4 months old. At 4 months it's definitely a pullet.
She's only had them a month, so she really doesn't know for sure how old they are. Folks get told wrong ages all the time when they buy birds.

I hope I'm wrong and you get pretty eggs from this bird.

It really looks like an EE pullet. If you could post a picture it's head showing the comb from the front it would really help.

Best I could get

Unless it suddenly drops its tail feathers and sprouts a new longer tail (which happened to me once with a golden campine) it is a hen.

A good rule of thumb is hens have rounded neck feathers and roosters are pointed. Your girl has nice rounded neck feathers and a tail that looks like a hens. Soon you should have lovely green (or pink or blue) eggs.
